Juan J. Laureda was born and raised in New York City. His mother is from Humacao, Puerto Rico, and his father from Galicia, Spain. Mr. Laureda attended and graduated from Hunter College in NYC and the University of Pennsylvania School of Law in 1978. He was admitted to practice law in the Courts of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1979 and the D.C. Court of Appeals in 1987. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third, Fourth, Fifth, Eleventh and Federal Circuits, and the U.S. District for the Eastern and Western Districts of Pennsylvania. Mr. Laureda has served as a legal intern for the Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP) in Washington, DC, and the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia (PICOP), staff attorney for Community Legal Services, Inc., in Philadelphia, PA, Senior Trial Attorney with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Administrative Judge with the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board, partner with the law firm of Laureda and Bosch, in Philadelphia, PA, and is currently the managing attorney in the law firm of Laureda & Associates, LLC, in Philadelphia, PA. He also has served as a Special Master for the United States District Court of the District of Columbia in Ayuda, Inc., et al v. Richard Thornburgh, et al., Civil Action No. 88-0625, and as one of the plaintiffs’ attorneys “In Re September 11 Litigation.” Mr. Laureda’s areas of practice include civil litigation, involving primarily federal employment law and civil rights matters before federal and state courts and administrative agencies and representing individuals, business clients/corporations and governmental agencies in complex civil litigation matters. In addition to having conducted investigations in alleged and/or perceived instances of human rights violations, he has also represented clients in complex criminal defense matters before federal and state courts and advises and represents artists and songwriters in the Entertainment field.
